ONLINE UNIT OF STUDY

This unit includes consolidated online resources and recommended learning activities. Units are divided into three learning levels and are designed to be used by parents and students as a guide in their homeschooling program. Printable materials and time-tracking tools are included with your purchase.ย

UNIT GOALS

Upon completing this unit, students will demonstrate understanding of the following:

  • Following the Revolutionary War, the newly formed United States started to grow which led to a need for more resources.
  • Westward expansion was driven by this need for resources alongside the desire of citizens to own more land and the idealogy of Manifest Destiny.ย
  • While westward expansion led to the growth and development of the modern United States, like colonization and exploration, Native Americans were forced off their lands, contributing to continued tensions and years of injustice that have yet to be resolved.
  • Westward expansion followed the American Revolution, leaving tensions with Britain which led to the War of 1812.
