MINI UNIT- Geography of Our World

UNIT GOALS

Upon completing this unit, students will demonstrate understanding of the following:

• The land on our planet is divided into seven continents- Asia, Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Antarctica.
• The water that covers approximately 70% of Earth’s surface is divided into five oceans- Pacific, Atlantic, Indian, Arctic, and Southern (or Antarctic).
• The land on our planet is made up of many landforms which include mountains, hills, valleys, deserts, plains, plateaus, islands, peninsulas, and isthmuses.
• Our planet holds many bodies of saltwater which include seas, bays, reefs, lagoons, and estuaries, and many bodies of freshwater which include rivers, lakes, and ponds.
