Honoring Martin Luther King Jr.

posted on January 16, 2023

Today, communities everywhere are honoring Martin Luther King Jr., whose courage and perseverance helped forward the cause of racial equality in the United States of America. His teachings and actions of peaceful protest influenced many and continue to make an impact.

On August 28, 1963, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I Have a Dream” speech in front of over 250,000 civil rights supporters from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. In the speech, he preached about racial, social, and economic injustice in the United States. Not only is it one of the most well-known speeches in American history, this event was one of the most defining moments of the civil rights movement.

Watch his speech below, and share what you’ve learned with family and friends using our activity submission form!
