Southern California educators and entrepreneurs, Gloria Ellis and Jamaica Thompson, are helping guide parents everywhere through the ever-shifting challenges in the world of education by expanding their local business to offer an online program that brings learning to children and sanity to parents, all in one place!
Gloria and Jamaica are the founders of Lighthouse Learning Solutions, LLC, in Ojai, CA. They have backgrounds in the field of psychology and education with over 30 years of combined experience as educational therapists and homeschooling moms. They recently became business partners after several years of successfully operating a school in Ojai, California, that specializes in educating students with unique learning profiles. However, the world is changing, and businesses need to change as well. With their online Homeschool Solutions program, they are expanding their business to serve the homeschooling community, now heavily comprised of parents who need quality learning options.
For me, as a woman of color, and for both of us, as female entrepreneurs, educators, and mothers, I think it’s very important that we bring our unique perspectives into the world of education. Along with essential content, the concepts of social awareness, empathy, and collaborative problem solving, as well as an appreciation for diverse perspectives, are essential components that we’ve integrated into our Homeschool Solutions program.

The online Homeschool Solutions program is for those families who are ready to learn alongside their children, and who respect traditional educational goals and activities, but want to provide those activities to their children in a respectful and flexible environment. This online program offers several core disciplines of study and provides learning activities that engage different learning strengths and styles while also celebrating diversity of thought and perspective. Each discipline includes multiple subjects that are divided into units of study, designed by experienced educators.
